A few weeks ago I noticed a competition on Facebook for 2 tickets to a secret Robbie Williams gig. All I had to do was to retweet a post on Twitter – I never expected to win but that afternoon, I received a message to let me know the good news!

The top secret gig was hosted by Magic FM and Direct Line and a room was booked for me in a hotel in London along with travel reimbursements up to £100 – incredibly generous! As it turned out the location of the gig was LSO St. Luke’s, which is on the same street as my house, so I politely declined the hotel.

The venue was incredible – I had always wondered what it was like inside the elegant grey stone church on Old Street and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s the perfect location for an intimate gig. The walls were draped with swathes of deep red velvet and the whole interior was adorned with lavish flowers. As soon as I walked in the door I was offered a glass of wine by the really friendly team of waiters, who later brought round elegant bowls of food (poached salmon, watercress salad, potatoes), little canapes and even dessert! A free gig with wine, good food, and apple crumble!

Very happy!

It was the first time I had seen Robbie Williams perform live although I have always loved his music (who doesn’t?!) I’d been told by many people that he’s a great entertainer on stage and he certainly didn’t disappoint. His singing was interspersed with some incredible dance moves as well as a lot of interaction with the audience. He took one viewer’s phone and facetimed her friend, brought a tribute up on stage and sang together with him and happily accepted gifts from the audience for his little daughter.

Everyone I met that night was lovely – the blogger Lauren who posted the competition as well as the media guys who organised my tickets. I had a wonderful night and I am very grateful to them and to Direct Line for giving me the unique experience!

When we left the venue, we were all given a little present – a Magic FM bauble to hang from the Christmas tree and to serve as a lovely memento of the night.
